Ok, it’s been more than a minute. Talk about understatement of the century! I honestly didn’t mean to be gone for such a long time – about nine months, give or take. While I was able to post more on my old Instagram, even there my posts slowed before stopping altogether.

What happened?
Work.
Now, I actually had an entire post drafted back in July explaining the hell I was dealing with at work. But I decided to scrap that post altogether. Maybe someday, I’ll write about the specifics of the things I deal with as a registered nurse. But all you need to know right now?
Short-staffed. No resources. Unsafe nurse-patient ratios.
All of this equals me being beyond exhausted. What free time I had, I used to sleep, do errands, perform self-care, maybe read books, and play video games. It became a challenge to be creative because I just had no energy. Although I admit that I did journal for a bit, even this stopped especially when exhaustion impacted my ability to enjoy and focus on reading.
If you follow me on Goodreads, you may have noticed that I would start books but it would either take me weeks to finish them or I’d stop reading them altogether. Even when I loved a book, I struggled to get through it. I could not even fathom trying to put my thoughts together to write a review, even short ones.
Quite frankly? Had it not been for my buddy reads with Mari of macnbooks and Justine of morenamonologues, I doubt I would have read anything at all.
Now, where do we go from here?
With the new year upon us, I’d really like to get back into book blogging and maybe even start a YouTube channel. However, since I don’t know what 2022 will bring, I’ll be focusing on at least revitalizing this blog. In order to bring this blog back to life, I’ll be making a few temporary changes that I hope will help me post content more frequently.
First change?
Moon & Coffee will exclusively be about books and bookish content. While I know most people are here for bookish content, I had planned on blogging about nursing, travel, video games, the occasional tv/movie review, and some lifestyle things.
Until I have more time and stability in my schedule, I’ll be staying in the realm of books and all things related to them. Basically? Book reviews 99% of the time.
Speaking of books?
Rather than try and chase those new releases for the views, I’m going to focus my time and efforts on the books that I have wanted to read for a while. Thankfully, I have a plethora of unread books on my shelves and in my kindle. However, this means that aside from a select few new releases, my reviews will be about older titles and not always books that people are going to be interested in reading.
While I suspect this will impact my blog’s views, the most important thing for me is to get back into reading in the first place. I can’t create bookish content if I don’t read.
What else to expect?
- A full-length review at least once a month. I hope to post more, but I at least want to be able to post twelve full-length reviews in 2022.
- Flash reviews will continue. They’ll stay as their own separate post for SEO reasons. Not sure how many I’ll end up completing this year, but I do hope to post at least two a month.
- Quarterly wrap-ups instead of monthly ones as a means to look back and reflect.
- Continuing my Book Reviews: Speed Dating Style series. Not sure about the posting schedule for this one as of yet. It will all depend on books I read in 2022 and whether they end up with full-length reviews or flash reviews.
Hopefully, the more I read, the more ideas I get for bookish content. For now, I think this is a good start.
I want to thank everyone who has stuck with me these past few months. It means a lot. While you wait for new content to be posted on this blog, I hope you will consider following me on other platforms:
Instagram | Twitter | The StoryGraph | Goodreads | YouTube | TikTok
In the meantime, I hope you all have a happy new year! See you in 2022!
