Perhaps the simplest way to begin this is to state my name. My name is Veronica (she/her).
A few quick things about me:
- I’m an Emergency Department RN.
- I love to travel. I’ll somehow find a way to leave NYC for a day or a week or a month just to be surrounded by new people, places, food, and stories.
- I am a big Disney fan and have been to almost every single Disney park in the world — Shanghai, I’ll eventually get to go see you!
- Aside from biology and maybe physics, I adore history. My first love was ancient Egyptian history thanks to The Mummy (1999). From there I branched into Greek, Roman, Ottoman, Medieval and Renaissance history.
- Some of my favorite historical figures are Cleopatra VII, Anne Boleyn, Kathryn Howard, Turhan Sultan, Kösem Sultan, Wu Zetian, and Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi).
- I do love to write but most of my writing these days has been relegated to blog posts and short (very short) stories/ideas for stories.
- I love video games so catch me yelling about a video game here one of these days.
- My favorite genres are:
- Fantasy
- Thrillers
- Historical fiction
- Young Adult
- History
- Biographies
- Sometimes romance when I feel the urge
- I have a special place in my heart for Asian books and Asian authors, especially Filipino and Southeast Asian authors.
- I’ll eat pretty much anything once as long as it doesn’t have a weird smell.
- I love wine, champagne, whiskey, sake, and brandy. Is this important for you to know? Maybe?
